The UK Centre for Carnival Arts is a unique national creation centre pioneering excellent and accessible carnival creation and learning. Working with the carnival community in Luton, international artists and aspiring carnivalists from across the UK, the centre is housed in a £7.2m state of the art centre. The UKCCA have secured funding from Heritage Lottery Fund to gather an archive about the rich history of carnival and street celebrations in the East of England that is accessible and interpreted to produce inspiring local, regional and national stories for everybody to enjoy and learn from. We are currently seeking a Digital Archivist - £24,720 (£9,888 pro-rata) Based in Luton 15 hours per week Fixed term contract to 30th April 2013 To be responsible for planning and implementation of the effective preservation, future migration access to and security of the digital assets and their metadata created by the online Carnival Archive Project. The Digital Archivist also is also responsible for supporting the collecting activities of the Archive Co-ordinators, based across the region. Experience of successfully managing born-digital collections is essential along with experience of working with community and voluntary organisations.
