The College is trying to convert the KPIs into measurable variables. The KPIs will have some discipline specificity and these will be done in association with the College Speciality Advisory Committees. I am sure the Chemistry SAC will welcome any support.

We are currently reviewing RCPath recommendations for KPI's with a view to local implementation. One recommendation in particular is causing us a bit of a headache:
 
Ii) Percentage of days in which duty clinical biochemists/haematologists/ microbiologists/virologists respond to all responses to requests for clinical advice within 30 minutes (including out of hours).

Has anybody considered how they might record data to evaluate this? We envisage out of hours telephone queries being particuarly problematic.
