Job Advertisement: Closing Date 30th April 2012 Postdoctoral Research Fellow University of Southampton The Faculty of Physical and Applied Sciences at the University of Southampton invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in radio astronomy, to work on LOFAR and e-MERLIN studies of AGN feedback in galaxy groups and clusters. The successful applicant will work with Dr Judith Croston on new LOFAR and e-MERLIN observations of radio-loud AGN within the LOFAR Extragalactic Surveys Key Science Project and e-MERLIN Extragalactic Jet Physics Legacy Project. The position is funded by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) for 3 years, and available from May 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter. Applicants should possess (or have submitted for) a PhD in astronomy/astrophysics, and have experience in radio interferometric data analysis, ideally at low frequencies. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is also essential. Knowledge/research experience in extragalactic astronomy, particularly radio-loud AGN physics, AGN feedback and/or galaxy clusters would be desirable.
