Overview: 
The Queensland College of Art (QCA) is located at Griffith University's Brisbane city South Bank campus and the Gold Coast campus. The Queensland College of Art is part of one of the largest creative and performing arts training and research precincts in Australia which is also home to the Griffith Film School and the Queensland Conservatorium. In this environment there is increasing interdisciplinary collaboration between the performing and visual arts. 

This is a continuing, full time position based at the South Bank campus. 

The role: 
This position teaches within the Queensland College of Art and contributes to the Bachelor of Design and the Master of Digital Design program. It facilitates informed skill and knowledge development in both the undergraduate and postgraduate Design programs. The position is an opportunity to become a member of a renowned team of educators creating a unique pedagogy focusing on critical new capacities for design. The Visual Communication and Digital Design majors include a broad spectrum of creative and cultural design practices, in particular, Design Futures, Creative Thinking, Web Design and Digital Print Design. The program has a strong focus on industry workshops and includes professional practice in the final year. Design Futures is the guiding and developmental philosophy of the Design Department. It marks a fundamental shift in the way design thinking, theory and practice are approached, and is based on the creation of a strong theoretical foundation, engaged research and an interdisciplinary approach to teaching. This approach is grounded in environmental and social responsibility, contextual understanding of the world and the deeper and wider effects and potentials of design. It will aim to educate designers to go beyond being mere service providers to become strategists, future leaders and practical intellectuals. 

The person: 
The successful applicant will have a doctoral degree in a related field of design, with considerable experience in teaching and research in relevant areas of visual communication and digital design. They will also have demonstrated industry experience in visual communication and digital design and an interest in providing leadership in research and teaching. 

Salary range: 
Lecturer, Level B: $79,377 - $94,263 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $92,872 - $110,288 per annum.
