Dear All,
I would be interested to hear the views of libraries using DDC with sizable collections of western philosophy stock (190-199) and/or EFL readers, on the benefits of using a simple DDC and author
classification rather than suffixes to arrange stock by philosopher (192 HUM) and EFL readers by reading level (428.64 ADV DIC).
I would welcome also the views of those who still use suffixes as outlined above and are
shelf ready. Who assigns the suffix – is it assigned in-house, or by the supplier, and is the supplier directed to do this using a specific MARC field (e.g., 600 $a)?
All replies welcomed.
