Thanks for the lead, Miriam. The article is available from the Science Careers magazine at http://sciencecareers.sciencemag.org/career_magazine/previous_issues/articles/2012_03_23/caredit.a1200033. It looks like a useful discussion-starter. Students (and practitioners) who are trying to figure out the genre of the scientific article could measure Ruben's humorous exaggerations against what they see in actual published articles in their fields. That would also help them compare patterns in different fields.
