It was interesting in the CILIP update review that one of the least popular topics was conference reporting. I imagine this is because they are out of date by the time they are published in print and too specific for a general audience. I imagine the need for this type of coverage has been replaced by blogs and tweets which are more immediate and the reader can pick and choose events. I can't say which is best for remembering, the main problem is finding my tweets again afterwards for when I've just tweeted only. Tools like Storify (http://storify.com/) and CoverItLive (http://www.coveritlive.com/) are good for capturing and saving tweets to look over again later - both work well for events particularly if you use a consistent hashtag (a word with the hash sign in front of it, e.g. #CIGEforum). > Tweeting while chairing an event (CIG shelf-ready event last December) though is really tough and not something I'd try again quickly! That's excessively brave! :) I'll let others comment further on the usefulness of Twitter for watching events that you are not attending but it's certainly something I've done before now and sometimes it's a brilliant way to catch up, sometimes it's less useful than blogs and later write ups of the same event. - Nicola. -- Nicola Osborne Social Media Officer EDINA website: http://www.edina.ac.uk/ t: 0131 651 3873 e: [log in to unmask] a: EDINA, The University of Edinburgh, Causewayside House, 158-162 Causewayside, Edinburgh EH9 1PR The University of Edinburgh is a charitable body, registered in Scotland, with registration number SC005336.
