All good, but the second one is particularly interesting from a PEST point of view.

Yesterday the media puffed away about Barclays and its great leap forward in mobile banking. They are just catching up with Africa, where mpesa has changed the face of finance. If you want a really good person to interview on this, try Jeni Mundy at Vodafone, a woman who, when I interviewed her at least, wears clothes at work. (Lesley will know all about this professional yachtie turned tech superstar.)

Kids seem to have a mobile phone grafted to their bodies soon after birth. Using this as an example where science and technology have made their lives interesting and have done so much for so many other people could be a great addition to the PEST repertoire. Anyone looking for examples of SET in action might do well to start there.

27 Feb: Tom Standage, Digital Editor, The Economist:

How mobile phones promote economic development

How did a yuppie plaything become a tool of economic development? How, exactly, do

mobile phones promote economic growth, and to what extent?

05 March: Dr Charles Elachi - Director, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
