Dear all The FP 7 SCIDIP-ES project is building on the results of APA projects such as CASPAR as well as the European Space Agency's Earth Observation Long-Term Data Preservation (LTDP) programme with the aim of setting-up a European framework for the long-term preservation of data, with an initial but not exclusive focus on Earth Science (ES) data. The project is conducting an on-line user consultation (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/57YTKQL) to understand the current architectures, technologies and approaches used for the purposes of data preservation, access and management. Responses to the survey will be used to customise the e-Infrastructure components to make it easier for us all to use and preserve our digitally encoded intellectual capital. It will also help to define, where possible, common preservation policies, harmonised semantics and ontologies. We would like to invite you and your colleagues to participate in this on-line survey and contribute to the definition of the tools and services being developed by the project.
