The focus is on experimental and theoretical research on energy technology as well as on development, use and evaluation of methods and tools for analysis of technical systems. In total around 200 persons are active at the six divisions of the department. Information about the division The division of Environmental Systems Analysis conducts prominent research and teaching the the fields environmental assessment, organising for the environment and environmentally driven innovation. The division is dynamic with extensive external collaborations, nationally and internationally. It takes part in several of Chalmers’ Areas of Advance. Currently, there are approximately 35 staff members with varying disciplinary backgrounds. Roughly half of the staff is faculty and the other half is PhD students. Research work should aim at improved understanding of the issues for environmental organisation and governance of product chains. This includes, for example, the practices of life cycle thinking, environmental evaluation of alternative organisation of product chains, and the meaning of globalisation and Bottom-of-the-Pyramid approaches for the greening of product chains. Much of the research will take place in collaboration with our industrial partners in CPM, the Life Cycle Center http://lifecycle.se. The Post-doctoral position offers an opportunity to qualify for further research positions within academia or industry. The main share of the working time is devoted to research. Supervision of students, at Msc and/or PhD level is included, as well as a small extent of teaching of undergraduate students. The employment is limited to a maximum of 2 years (1+1). Qualifications We seek a candidate with a multidisciplinary background, combining engineering knowledge with the social sciences. The applicant must have experience of qualitative research and must be familiar with life cycle thinking, life cycle management and life cycle assessment methods. A broad understanding of industry strategies and management of environmental and sustainability issues is desirable. Experience of field study of industry practices is an advantage. The applicant should have a Ph.D. degree, normally not older than 3 years. A successful candidate should have experience from teaching and demonstrate potential for teaching and research.
