HI Folks,Following the very rich discussion about "Classic Papers" in Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology that recently occurred on the MSA and GEO-Metamorphism listservs, we have made a new compilation of these recommended readings for students. Actually, a similar request had been posted by Alan Glazner a couple of years ago, and we already had a start on this type of compilation. This new information has been posted on our website on Teaching Petrology with the Primary Scientific Literature: http://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/petrology/literature.html In addition to the recommended readings (which are posted, or you can download as a Word file from this page), we also have a variety of teaching strategies that you might want to try out in your classes.My graduate student, Jesse Chadwick, put this compilation together for us and tracked down the incomplete references. So, a special thanks to Jesse.Please submit any additional articles that you recommend (full citations would be appreciated) and I can easily add these to the compilation on the webpage.
