Reminder: DEADLINE TODAY...

CALL FOR TaPRA INTERIM SYMPOSIUM - 24 MARCH 2012

INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACHES TO DOCUMENTING PERFORMANCE

The TaPRA Documenting Performance Working Group seeks to bring together different perspectives to documenting and archiving performance, particularly in relation to the new communication technologies, which have radically changed the way documents and archives are created and managed.

An interim TaPRA symposium from the Documenting Performance Working Group will be held at the University of Hull's Scarborough Campus on Saturday 24 March 2012 to explore interdisciplinary approaches to documenting performance.

This is a call for papers, presentations, posters, performances and/or provocations.

The working group's focus is to provide a platform for researchers to share their works-in-progress or finished projects with others working on similar studies and/or practical applications for documenting performance. We are particularly keen to provide a platform for examples of different approaches to documenting performance, as observed and practiced in disciplines other than theatre and performance, such as architecture, digital humanities, visual arts, archaeology, etc. However, all proposals will be given due consideration, particularly because interdisciplinary interests can often be found in what appear to be discipline-specific projects.

This event is free to all current members of TaPRA. Anyone who did not attend TaPRA's 2011 conference in London will be required to pay a one-off fee to TaPRA of £10, which will make them members for the remainder of the year ('TaPRA years' run from conference to conference). The registration fee also covers refreshments throughout the day.

Both new and experienced scholars with an interest in these concerns are welcome. Some financial assistance towards travel expenses is also available for PG TaPRA members, through competitive application.

Papers/presentations from this symposium may be reworked and/or re-presented at further panels from the Documenting Performance working group at the annual TaPRA conference in September 2012, so this CFP may be considered an early call for sessions from this TaPRA working group for the conference in September.

Please send a short description (300 words) of your presentation/provocation/workshop and your technological needs (data projection and a PC will be available), as well as brief bio (150 words) by Monday 20 February 2012 to the symposium coordinator: Toni Sant  - [log in to unmask]

This event is being organized in collaboration with the M3P Foundation and ICP Cluster.
