Hi Rebecca,

We don't treat staff as third parties if they are acting in their
professional capacity. However, if there was the instance of a low tier
member of staff we would consider each case individually.

Thanks

Subject: [data-protection] Members of staff as third parties

Hello all,

I was just wondering how anybody else treated members of staff when it
comes to releasing information in DSARs.

We have typically not treated university staff as third parties
(therefore avoiding the need for consent/balancing when disclosing
information) but we have struck upon one or two situations where this is
a problematic approach.

Do other people consider staff in this way, and has anybody else had
occasion to introduce an 'exception to the rule'?

Many thanks,

Rebecca
