Qualitative research associate in physical activity, transport and health

The MRC Epidemiology Unit undertakes research on the causes and prevention of diabetes and obesity, including - under the auspices of the Centre for Diet and Activity Research (CEDAR: www.cedar.iph.cam.ac.uk) - developing and evaluating interventions to change population physical activity patterns. We are now seeking a qualitative research associate to join our team working on the interdisciplinary quasi-experimental study Commuting and Health in Cambridge, with a focus on evaluating and understanding the impacts of the newly opened Cambridgeshire Guided Busway on active travel, physical activity and public health. You will be the lead qualitative researcher on phase 4 of the study, taking primary responsibility for the collection and analysis of interview and other qualitative data from an established cohort of participants and conducting focus groups with local residents. You will have, or will shortly be about to obtain, a doctorate and you will have experience of qualitative research. A background in public health or a related social science would be an advantage.
