Centre for Criminal Justice Studies: Second Century Lecture 2012

You are warmly invited to the CCJS Second Century Lecture 2012, to celebrate the second century of the School of Law at the University of Leeds. The Lecture will be given by Professor Katja Franko Aas, University of Oslo, at 5.00pm on Monday 27th February 2012:

‘The Earth is One but the World is Not’: Criminological Theory and its Geopolitical Divisions

Outline
The lecture addresses the prevailing assumptions about geo-political context in criminological theory. By examining the situated identity of criminological theory,  and its claims to universality, it aims to raise questions about who produces theory, who has access to the universal, and what are the potential consequences for our understanding of the global.
