 Dear all:

Just an addendum to the Archives and Records Assistant post at West Yorkshire Archive Service I advertised yesterday: the contract runs between 02 April 2012 to 29 March 2013. All other details remain unchanged.

West Yorkshire Archive Service has accrued a small financial surplus and has allocated this to recruit a temporary, additional Archive Assistant / Records Assistant. This post will be based at the Wakefield office but will also cover the Records Management Service which is based at Morley

Some weekend and evening working will be required

The postholder, working as part of a team, will help supervise a busy public searchroom, answer enquiries, retrieve archives and registry of deeds volumes from stores, work on income generating services including the Research Service, undertake copying and administrative duties, sort and list archive material and participate in outreach activities on behalf of the Service. Duties will also include driving a light goods vehicle and delivering and collecting archives and records to and from clients and WYAS service points as required.

The successful candidate will have good customer care skills, a knowledge of relevant ICT systems, administrative experience and 4 GCSE passes (Grade A, B or C) or equivalent, including English and a numeracy based subject. A knowledge of how archive services operate and of local history would be an advantage. They will also require a full clean driving licence and good geographical knowledge of West Yorkshire.
