TWO STATISTICIAN POSTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM CLINICAL TRIALS UNIT The University of Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit (BCTU) is looking to employ two statisticians, who wish to advance their medical research career within this successful Clinical Trials Unit. The appointed candidate will play a central role in the Unit's research, consultancy and educational activities including designing trials and assessing their feasibility, oversight of trial processes, analysis and reporting of trials, meta-analyses and methodological research. BCTU is a UKCRC registered Clinical Trials Unit that is currently co-ordinating over 20 trials in a variety of disease areas. The main in-house studies are in Parkinson's disease, renal disease, coloproctology and women's health. The Unit is led by Professor Jon Deeks and currently employs over 40 members of staff ranging from trial co-ordinators, data managers, IT programmers, statisticians and systematic reviewers. Applicants should be a numerate graduate, preferably with a post-graduate degree in statistics or other scientific discipline or equivalent experience in applied statistics. The starting salary for the Trainee Medical Statistician post (post no. 49390) will be at Research Grade 6 (£24,520 to £26,779 with potential progression to £30,122). The starting salary for the Medical Statistician post (post no. 49302) will be at Research Grade 7 (£27,578 to £35,938 with potential progression to £38,140).
