The 25th European Conference on Operatinal Research
Special Session Stream on Forecasting

Forecasting is at the heart of decision making in Operational Research (OR). It is the basis for planning and control activities, it drives decision making on products and services, from the strategic to the operational level, and is a critical input to finance, marketing, logistics and production, across sectors from business to government. Traditionally, OR improvements to Forecasting have been algorithmic, and work in this area continues to flourish. However, more recently, OR work has broadened to include whole system planning and a re-discovery of the role of System Thinking/Dynamics. There has been increased interest, too, in the role of human judgement in forecasting and the scope for organisational learning. Related research into information systems to support forecasting and planning is also becoming increasingly important. It is this plethora of methodological approaches and application areas that this EURO 2012 stream on Forecasting attempts to capture in a series of coherent special sessions, relevant both from an academic and a practitioner perspective.

Abstracts are invited for the Forecasting stream we are co-organising in the forthcoming EURO conference.
Topics include, but are not limited to the following application areas and methodological approaches:

Abstract submission

Authors must first register with EURO at: www.euro-online.org. In the Abstract Submission page, please provide the invitation submission code given to you by a special session organizer, or use the general code for the forecasting stream (to be placed in a suitable session): 0059829c
Abstracts must be written in English and contain no more than 600 characters (no formulas or mathematical notations are allowed). Abstracts will be reviewed for relevance, originality, significance, technical quality and clarity to be accepted. Each attendee is allowed to present no more than one paper at the Conference.
