Research Associates x 2

MRC Centre for Outbreak Analysis and Modelling/Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology/School of Public Health , IMPERIAL COLLEGE LONDON

Salary £27,400 - £39,920 per annum

St Mary's Campus
Two exciting positions have become available within the MRC Centre for Outbreak Analysis and Modelling at Imperial College London. The MRC Centre has built upon a world-leading research group in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Imperial College to undertake applied collaborative work with national and international agencies in support of policy planning and response operations against emerging infectious disease threats. The successful candidates will be members of both the Centre and the Department, and will be based at the St Mary's Campus, Paddington.

We are seeking two Research Associates to work on the EU-FP7-funded "Predemics" project (http://predemics.biomedtrain.eu/cms/). Predemics aims at providing preparedness, prediction and prevention of emerging zoonotic viruses with pandemic potential using multidisciplinary approaches. Modelling and the analysis of key data will focus on the extent to which outbreaks are predictable and will identify high-risk situations and environments. The post holders will be supervised by Professor Christl Donnelly and Dr Simon Cauchemez.

The successful applicants will have a PhD or equivalent in mathematics, statistics, population biology, epidemiology, or a related discipline, have experience of modelling disease spread and/or population dynamics or experience of statistical analysis of data, and have excellent communication skills.

Both posts are full time for a fixed-term of 48 months.

For informal enquiries please contact Professor Christl Donnelly ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>).

Applicants are strongly encouraged to consider applying for two similar Research Associate roles currently advertised, funded by Defra, also with the MRC Centre for Outbreak Analysis and Modelling. Imperial College London job reference number: SM007-12.
