ESRC STUDENTSHIPS IN SOCIAL STATISTICS AT LANCASTER UNIVERSITY, UK

Competitive studentships to UK and EU students are available at Lancaster Statistics to undertake an MSc in quantitative methods followed by a PhD in Applied Social Statistics through the ESRC's North West Doctoral Training Centre (NWDTC). These are aimed at students with a social or health background who wish to learn and apply modern statistical methods; or for students who have a mathematical background and want to conduct statistical research with applications in the social sciences. See http://www.maths.lancs.ac.uk/department/postgraduate/applied and
http://www.maths.lancs.ac.uk/department/research/PhD/applied for further details.

The studentships cover university fees (and an annual stipend for UK students). Prospective students, who need to have a good first degree, should send an initial research proposal for PhD study, together with a CV, to Brian Francis ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>).

The deadline for applications is 1 March 2012. Those selected at stage 1 after this deadline will be put forward to the NWDTC competition and their proposals will be developed with their preospective supervisor.
