"People aged 65 years and over and people who are not exposed to much sun should also take a daily supplement containing 10 micrograms of vitamin D." People don't get 'exposed to much sun' in Cumbria even in the summer so I guess this advice could be interpreted as meaning that we should all take a supplement in this part of the world. I note that there is no recommendation to measure serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D. A problem for GPs is that there isn't a 10ug tablet in the BNF for them to prescribe. Is everybody expected to buy there own over-the-counter? Regards, Wayne.
