We have a French
polisher here in the museum so I dispose of our stuff via him (he also gets
acetone in bulk, which is useful) as he does have a specialised waste disposal
system. You might ask any local furniture restorers if they do likewise and slip
them a fiver or something to take the stuff off your
hands.

Subject: [SHCG-LIST] Disposal of
acetone
Hello
everyone
I
will soon be using paraloid and acetone in marking some museum objects for the
first time and I am not entirely sure what to do with any
leftovers...
The
CoSHH guidelines say it should not be disposed of by normal means, so I was just
wondering what other museums have done? The local council does not have a
provision for hazardous or special waste – so I can’t go through
them.
Any
hints or tips?
Thanks!
