This might be a query worth bringing to the Linguist List - is there any
such organisation for linguists, either fresh or years out of the PhD gate,
who do not yet have academic employment? I don't think this question
applies merely to sociolinguists.

I'd be interested in any responses you've gotten (not that I'll need to
join yet).
