Research Assistant

100% FTE or 80% FTE, Fixed term until 31 January 2014

We are seeking a Research Assistant to work on the development of incentives and evaluation methods for social media based transport management approaches and undertake 'living lab' based monitoring and evaluation. You will be required to generate, collect and analyse data from pervasive technologies, social media and transport suppliers using a variety of new and established quantitative and social science based methods, which will involve the use of appropriate analysis software.
You will contribute to the Sustainable Social Network Services for Transport project (SUNSET) which is a new concept for urban mobility management. Its goal is to reduce the rapidly increasing safety, congestion and environmental problems in modern cities by encouraging individuals and groups of people to change their travel behaviour. SUNSET accomplishes this by rewarding such changes rather than by imposing restrictions or penalties.

You will have a good honours degree (2:1 minimum ) in a numerate discipline and be working towards (or have) a PhD in transport. With experience in social media, pervasive technologies and ICT you will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
