Dear Colleagues,

please see the PhD position available below:

PhD Research Assistantship in Spectroscopic and Functional Neuroimaging

Department of Neurology
University of New Mexico School of Medicine

The MR research group at Department of Neurology (http://hsc.unm.edu/som/neuro/lab/) invites applications to participate in NIH funded research projects to develop high-speed MR spectroscopic imaging and real-time functional MRI in human brain and breast. The focus of this position is on MR pulse sequence development and image reconstruction, which involves high-speed spatial and spectral encoding methods with parallel imaging and compressed sensing. Clinical applications include imaging of metabolite diffusion in children with autism, monitoring of neoadjuvant therapy in breast cancer and presurgical mapping in patients with brain lesions. Studies will be performed in collaboration with the MIND Research Network (http://www.themindinstitute.org/), the UNM cancer center, the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Candidates should have a degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or a related fields. A strong background in signal and image processing is essential. Experience in MRI (data acquisition, processing, statistics) and programming skills (Matlab, C/C++) are desirable.
Facilities include a state-of-the-art whole body Siemens TIM Trio scanner equipped with 32 channel head array coil and 16 channel breast array coil.
