Dear All,

This is just to let you know that there are new PhD opportunities in the Psychology Department at Royal Holloway University of London. I would be happy to receive enquiries from prospective PhD students with an interest in the cerebellum, its interactions with the prefrontal and motor areas of the frontal lobe, the control of cognition, action and learning. Applicants should have graduated with a first class honours degree or a distinction at MSc level in a relevant subject.

The Department (http://www.rhul.ac.uk/psychology/home.aspx) has excellent research facilities, including a research-dedicated 3T Siemens Trio MRI scanner. It also has a strong research reputation, ranking 7th among 75 UK Psychology Departments in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise.

Prospective applicants can find out more about the work of the lab at http://www.pc.rhul.ac.uk/staff/n.ramnani/, and about the broad theoretical and experimental approaches in:

·         Ramnani N (2006), ‘The primate cortico-cerebellar system: anatomy and function’. Nat Rev Neurosci. 7(7):511-22.

·         Balsters JH, Ramnani N (2011), ‘Cerebellar plasticity and the automation of first-order rules’. J Neurosci. 31(6):2305-12.

·         Ramnani N (in press), ‘Frontal Lobe and Posterior Parietal Contributions to the Cortico-cerebellar System’. Cerebellum (see http://www.springerlink.com/content/r1258587n4066854/)

Please feel free to pass this on to those who might be interested.

With best wishes,

Narender Ramnani
