Dear colleagues
As most people will have been having a well-earned break over the Christmas period, this is a reminder that places are still available for the fourth seminar in the
2011/12 educational research seminars series run by the Learning Institute at
Queen Mary, University of London.
The seminar takes place between 12 noon and
2pm on Monday 9th January, in room 602 of the G. O. Jones Building on the
Mile End campus of QMUL.
Entitled Lost on a roller-coaster: The first year doctoral student experience and led by Dr Jo Cordy and Dr Giles Martin from the Learning Institute at QMUL, this
seminar will present the themes and
issues that have arisen from a one year pilot exploratory research project
investigating PhD students' experiences of their transition to doctoral study. These themes include their academic and social integration and lifestyle, the difficulties
knowing what to do and how to work at a new level, the emotional rollercoaster
of motivation, and supervision.
For full details, directions to the campus and to book for the seminar, go to the research seminar web page,
at http://www.learninginstitute.qmul.ac.uk/lta/events/research-seminars/.
Lunch will be provided for those who book in advance. You can also book
directly from this email by emailing [log in to unmask]" target="_blank">[log in to unmask] with the details of the seminar(s) you would like to attend.
I very much hope you will be able to attend this seminar which looks at a very pertinent topic for researcher development.
