Hi Alex,

Wow! The price of this conference is considerably more expensive than the two last conferences. Why? I thought that we were shooting for trying to keep the registration fee affordable. The ticket alone to travel from the U.S. to Sidney is 2000.00 US dollars. In the humanities, we usually get very limited financial support for international conferences.

Some food for thought but thank you for your work. I really appreciate your effort in putting together the Sidney conference.

Subject: Sydney Conference 2012: Registration Costs & Hotel

Dear SRN colleagues,

Dear SRN Colleagues,

Things are  progressing well  in our planning for the 2012 Sydney conference 'Words & Images'. Thanks for your patience, the SRN steering committee in Brussels decided upon an early CFP to enable researchers to  give everyone lead time for  funding travel. So we're still in the process of formalising our Key Notes and the overall shape of the program. We've received some excellent proposals  - and look forward to more...

Our 2nd CFP is open until March 1, 2012.  Please pass this on to your colleagues and networks.

We would like now to provide the information on the costs for the Sydney conference, which will be formalised later on our website.

Full Price: Conference: 3 Days
$270 (incl. GST) AUD

Concession: Conference: 3 days
$180 (incl. GST) AUD

We are suggesting Vibe Hotel Sydney, Goulburn Street @ approximately $175 per night. This is a city location hotel, that will be close to the Day 1 Venue (a city venue TBC) and a 20 minute train ride from Central Station to Macquarie University, North Ryde for Days 2 & 3 of the conference. For the Vibe Hotel, see here: http://www.vibehotels.com.au/default.asp?page=/vibe-locations/sydney-hotels/vibe-hotel-sydney

These amounts are all in Australian Dollard and we plan to use ConferenceOnline.com for registrations, which will be set up for payment as we progress.

Regards,
Alex Munt / Kathryn Millard
