Dear Colleagues,

The Scottish Council on Archives is pleased to invite applications for the Patrick Cadell SCA Bursary – 2012.

As the former Keeper of the Records of Scotland, and in his capacity as a chair and trustee of numerous heritage, archives and records organisations, Patrick Cadell CBE made valuable and lasting contributions to archives in Scotland and abroad. In addition to acting as an influential advocate for archives in the Council of Europe, Mr. Cadell also led the launch of the Scottish Archive Network – or SCAN project – with a national online catalogue and digital images of the early Scottish wills.

The Scottish Council on Archives is funding a bursary in memory of Mr. Cadell’s extensive contributions to Scottish Archives. The Patrick Cadell SCA bursary is aimed at providing an annual CPD opportunity for an archivist or records manager working in a Scottish Archive or Records Management Unit.

Successful applicants will be registered on to the selected course directly by the SCA administrators.
