This is a part time (0.6 FTE) post for a minimum of 6 months contract to provide maternity cover.  The post is at Grade 8 (FTE Salary £36,862 - £44,016)

Governance Services provides support to many parts of the University, managing governance, compliance across the institution and committee servicing for the senior committees of the University.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Information Governance Team to provide maternity leave cover for 9-12 months.  This small team is responsible for ensuring that the various laws, regulations, policies, standards and good practices which apply to information and records management, information security, freedom of information, data protection and copyright us are understood and adhered to by the University community.

The Senior Information Security Officer will focus primarily upon generating and maintaining a widespread awareness of Information Security issues across the University through the development and implementation of policies, and upon influencing the varied University community of staff and students to adopt best practice.  Additional responsibilities will include managing the University's new policy framework and approval process and providing support on data protection matters to the Head of Informartion Governance as the University's Data Protection Officer.

You will be an experienced Information Security or Information Management professional, educated to degree level or professional equivalent and demonstrate a keen interest, a sound understanding and a proven track-record of achievement in Information Security and related topics, and the standards, techniques and tools required for countering potential threats across a devolved and dispersed organisation.

As the role involves liaising with and coordinating a wide variety of people at all levels across the University, strong interpersonal and influencing skills are essential as is a willingness to learn, update and apply your knowledge. Previous experience in a HE or similar environment, whilst not essential, would be an advantage.
