Dear List
I am new to this company and the majority of workers are DSE users. I have recently been experiencing a large number of Management requests to undertake DSE Assessments mainly in pregnant workers and have encountered some with lower back pain. They are requesting some form of lumbar support e.g lumbar rolls. I have carried out DSE Assessments and made adjustments to their workstations to comply with DSE Regs but some still insist that they need some form of extra support.I happened to speak to some nurses who used to work for this company and they suggested asking them to bring in a bath towel and roll it up or a small cushion for lumbar support instead of recommending lumbar rolls. My main worry is if I can recommend these as a Specialist Practitioner? The two types of chairs in use within this organisations are the GO and the G64 chairs. In some instances I have recommended the lumbar sleeve for the G64 and the mesh backrest for the GO chairs and these have helped. Please help!
