We would also like to add to this list Irma Heyliger - Chair of Black Health Initiative in Leeds on receiving her OBE. Heather Nelson DIRECTOR - BLACK HEALTH INITIATIVE ----- Original Message ----- From: Mark Johnson To: [log in to unmask] Sent: Tuesday, January 03, 2012 10:46 AM Subject: New Year congratulations etc I'm delighted to see that our field of diversity/equality and ethnicity in health has had some significant recognition in the 'New Years Honours'! Orin Lewis gets a well deserved OBE for his untiring efforts with ACLT to raise registrations of marrow/blood donors from the BME communities, to match the recognition of Beverley deGale's work alongside him (awarded last year). Dinesh Bhugra becomes a CBE (Commander of the British Empire: oh the irony) for his work in psychiatry Neslyn Watson Druee also gets a mention in the Commanders section (an upgrade to her MBE!), and Vidar Hjardeng gets an MBE for his work with the sight-loss communities I've probably missed a few, but it is nice to see that people do get nominated and recognised for this field - keep it up!!! And a happy New Year and an effective one, to all our members.....
