Robert. The Lancashire boiler is said to have been invented by William Fairbairn around 1844 - so perhaps your site is too early. A Lanc boiler would probably produce too much steam for a pumping engine running at a few strokes a minute, being much more suited to mill or big winding engines at collieries. Regards, Mike Gill
