Project Curator; Science

Full-time

Fixed-term contract 23 months

£26,820 per annum

 

As Project Curator you will undertake a broad range of curatorial work and research in relation to the field of scientific instruments in the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf Region and advise on its presentation in the Zayed National Museum (ZNM), currently being developed in a joint programme with the British Museum. You will support the development of a curatorial programme for the ZNM and identify appropriate material within the British Museum and in the UAE and Gulf region for exhibition in ZNM galleries.

 

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline, a post graduate qualification focussing on the history of science or Science in Islamic cultures is desirable. You will have good organisational skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team. With proven experience of working in a museum, and of conducting archival and collections research, you will also have the ability to prepare written reports and scholarly articles. Arabic language skills and knowledge Life sciences and experience of planning museum exhibits and displays are also advantageous for this post.
