medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture Tom:

I'm not sure I see a problem here.  This is a standard teaching that has patristic roots, although a more technical account in medieval scholastic theology. What is causing your hesitation?

Dear colleagues,
I have been wrestling with the diascussion of the Eucharist by the canonist Rufinus.  He wrote that humanity was united essentialiter with Jesus' humanity.  I have been trying to decide whether I am missing something in the translation of this into the paper I am writing.  Has anyone run into a technical usage of the adverb?  Rufinus did not try to define it.
