Dear all,

On behalf of S. Mukherjee,  B. Mukherjee, and R. Thiede, we would like to invite you to consider submitting a contribution to session TS4.5 " Geodynamics of collisional type orogenic belts and its response to climate and erosional process - Himalaya, Karakoram & Tibet" to be held at the European Geosciences Union General Assembly, 22-27 April 2012 in Vienna, Austria.

Large collisional orogenic belt are characterized by high topography, tectonically thickened crust that is thermally weakened at a mid-crustal depth. Such a thickened crusts form extended high mountain plateaus, which affect global atmospheric circulation pattern and establish strong deformational, climatic as well as erosion gradients along their margins. To which degree they interact, develop feedbacks or trigger each other is still strongly debated. This session will bring together researchers interested in developing new insights and quantify relationships between tectonics, topography and erosion, as well as share models that capture the structural and topographic evolution of continental collision zone. We invite submissions focusing on, but not restricted to, models of deformation processes within large collision zones and the testing of such models via geochemical, geochronological, geodetic, geophysical, modeling, petrological, and/or structural investigations.

Go to http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2012/session/9611 for submitting your abstract.

Deadline is the 17th of January 2012 for abstract submission.

Looking forward to meet you in Vienna!

S. Mukherjee,  B. Mukherjee, and R. Thiede
