Dear all,

Please pass on to interested students.

Many thanks,

Metal dispersion in the halos of porphyry ore systems

Dr Jamie Wilkinson & Prof. David Cooke ( University of Tasmania)

A fully industry-funded project is available to work in the LODE research group (Imperial College/Natural History Museum) and in collaboration with CODES, University of Tasmania, starting September/October 2012.

The aim of the project is to identify the mechanism(s) by which metals are added to the metasomatic alteration haloes surrounding porphyry ore systems and test models for the origin of propylitic alteration zones.

We are seeking a well-qualified and highly motivated Earth Sciences/Geology graduate who wishes to carry out a cutting edge PhD in economic geology with direct exploration implications. Excellence in geochemistry and mineralogy are essential; knowledge of hydrothermal mineralization and experience of microanalytical techniques are desirable.
