Presenter: Professor David Nicol, University of Strathclyde, www.reap.ac.uk

Professor David Nicol is Professor of Higher Education at the University of Strathclyde and a leading authority on assessment and feedback practice in higher education.  David is providing expertise to the JISC Assessment and Feedback programme and  will lead this webinar.

Enhancing assessment and feedback with technology is not just about making current educational practices more efficient; it is about supporting new and innovative practices. This session will outline some ideas about feedback in higher education that challenge traditional thinking and it will identify some new and emerging practices.  Key ideas to be considered are: (i) what conditions are required for feedback to enhance learning and, importantly (ii) what the difference is between the feedback students produce themselves and the feedback they receive from an external source. David will illustrate some ideas by drawing from the JISC Assessment and Feedback projects plans.

The format of this webinar will be a short presentation of about half an hour and opportunities for questions and discussion.
