Educational & Child Psychology

For these forthcoming issues of Educational & Child Psychology we are looking for contributions from a range of settings and countries.

Volume 30 (1) Citizenship, Community, Cohesion

Dr Sue Roffey, Dr Phil Stringer and Dr Tim Corcoran

The global financial crisis, ensuing riots, the rise of on-line political movements and increasing inequality throw up many questions about democracy, citizenship and social cohesion. What does this mean for education and the futures of young people? How do these issues impact on the work of educational psychologists? What actions are being taken by local communities and what difference are they making?

We invite abstracts (250 words max.) for both theoretical and evidence-based papers on these themes to be submitted to Dr Sue Roffey ([log in to unmask]) no later than 15 March 2012. Authors of proposals selected for the Special Edition will be invited to submit full papers by 15 June 2012. All submitted papers will subsequently be subject to peer review. Educational & Child Psychology: Citizenship,
Community, Cohesion will be published in March 2013.

Volume 30 (2) Giftedness in education

The study of giftedness in children has broadened greatly from its early psychometric origins and educational psychologists have become widely involved in a range of activities involving assessment, identification, developmental progression, and intervention. This issue of Educational & Child Psychology will highlight research on all aspects of giftedness in children and, in particular, consideration of the ways by which educational and other systems endeavour to foster positive development, both academically and more broadly across all spheres
of human functioning.

Proposals for papers (250–500 words) should be sent to the Editors,
Prof. Dr. Wilma Resing ([log in to unmask]), Prof. Julian Elliott
([log in to unmask]), or Dr Fraser Lauchlan ([log in to unmask])
no later than 15 March 2012. Authors of proposals selected for the Special Edition
will be invited to submit full papers by 15 July 2012. All submitted papers will
subsequently be subject to peer review. Educational & Child Psychology: Giftedness in
education will be published in June 2013.
