Dear all,

We would like to invite you to the next Gerald Aylmer seminar to be held on Wednesday 29 February starting at 9:30am in the Chancellors Hall, Institute of Historical Research, Senate House, London http://www.history.ac.uk/contact

The seminar is jointly sponsored by the Royal Historical Society, the Institute of Historical Research and The National Archives. This year it focuses on the theme of 'Locating the Past'. The conference will explore the changing interface between history and geography, asking scholars from a range of related disciplines and sub-disciplines to identify how their field of expertise is being transformed by new approaches and technologies. The programme has three panel sessions with short presentations and open discussion. The first session will review some of the sources available when considering using geographic information systems, speakers on the second panel will consider relevant research questions and applications used and the third session will look at working with commercial partners to develop and/or use new technologies to create information about places and to consider questions of public management and impact.

The programme ends with a keynote speech by Professor Tim Hitchcock.

To confirm attendance and/or see the detailed programme please email [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>

With thanks and best wishes,
