Archives Accreditation creation - storming ahead

The process of creating the Archives Accreditation standard and scheme is off to a flying start with a series of fully-booked workshops being held around the country. Edinburgh was first off the starting blocks, followed by York on the 26th January, then London and mid-Wales.

Workshop volunteers have found the days stimulating and challenging and are enthused and raring to go for the next step!

The introductory workshops are followed by the co-creation of the scheme through an online platform from February through to April. We are keen to ensure all stakeholders (those who work in archives, governing bodies and decision-makers, funders, researchers and archives user groups) can and do get involved in this process and build on the momentum of the workshops. Further information on how to have your say will be shared once the platform is live.

Anyone who has not participated in a workshop (and those who have and want to experience it again!) is invited to a Webinar - a condensed version of the workshop.

Further information about the Webinar

The webinar will take place 9th February, 10am - midday.

It will:

 * Introduce participants to the aims of the Archives Accreditation scheme
 * Outline the research and development undertaken so far
 * Test the proposed principles and processes using the knowledge and experience of the sector
 * Introduce the next steps process that will be used collaboratively to create the standard.

You will need a computer with internet access, and a phone line.

Further information about Accreditation

The development of a UK wide scheme for the accreditation of archives service is being led by a partnership of sector bodies. Archives Accreditation will encourage and recognise excellence and development by certifying the achievement of best practice. Widely recognised as playing a pivotal role in the increasing the strength of sectors, accreditation schemes also assist organisations to plan and design services, secure support and demonstrate performance.
