I expect we’ve all been approached – certainly I have. We won’t be loading anything because – hard to believe I know, but the Queen has never visited Sutton!

You could consider watermarking the photos before loading them – discreetly. Also use a very low res photo – 72dpi is the norm for web pages I believe.

Best wishes,

Kath

Hello everyone

We have been approached by Historypin, a not for profit public history project that facilitates the uploading of photographs, stories, audio and video recording. In particular they are interested in content to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and are launching a project called "Pinning the Queen's History". Having looked at the website it appears that content can be uploaded to an interactive map with historical images layered over street views. Most of the content appears to be from private individuals and most of the institutional content seems to be north American.

With regard to Diamond Jubilee, it appears that this will be a dedicated part of the Historypin site and the idea is to have content on any royal material in our collections such as royal visits, jubilee celebrations etc. For us one issue with uploading content is going to be copyright. Historypin does not claim any ownership of copyright and you can indicate the copyright status and holder of the image etc.

I was wondering if anyone else has been approached by Historypin about "Pinning the Queen's History"? and, if so, is anyone planning to contribute content?

Please reply off line

Best wishes

Peter
