The Space Review: Postcards from the edge
Over the course of several unmanned and six manned Mercury flights, some 2,000 images were captured, in 70mm format, with a then-state-of-the-art Hassleblad camera. For the new digital archive, scientists at the Johnson Space Center in Houston scanned the original negatives, and Robinson used “digital darkroom” techniques to enhance the contrast and balance the colors of the images.
