The Institute of Language and Communication, The Center for Child Language, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, and the Working Group Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Freiburg, Germany, offers a position as Research Assistant for a period of 9 months (from 1.4.2012 to 31.12.2012). The appointment as research assistant will primarily be based at the University of Freiburg. The intention is that the successful applicant will later apply for a three year PhD position (starting 1.1.2013). The PhD position will be attached to the Center of Child Language at the Institute of Language and Communication, University of Southern Denmark, but the PhD project will primarily be carried out at the Working Group Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Freiburg. The PhD project will focus on the development and application of sophisticated statistical methods to analyze datasets occurring from various fields of child language research, in particular the data of a large scale RCT on the effectiveness of systematic and explicit instructions via a Danish adaptation of the RIA intervention program. Applicants should have, or expect to receive, a master degree in Statistics or Mathematics or related subject and a clear interest in child language and child development, or a master degree in linguistics, psychology, public health and a related subject and strong interest in both statistics, child language and child development. The required qualification is graduate level. Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the university.
