Dear All,

For some time we have asked requestors to send us plain (non-SST, non-PST) samples for TDM (phenytoin, carbamazepine, valproate, theophylline, phenobarbitone and digoxin).  This is because of information published some time ago that suggested that some / all of these drug assays can be affected by the presence of the gel in the tubes.  Does anyone know if this is still the case for the current generation of blood collection tubes?  We’re using plastic BD Vacutainer.

Thanks

Geoff Smith
