Source of funding for HEA recognition fee
I've just looked it up and Derek is right. Here is the link for Fellows (individual recognition route)
http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/assets/documents/recognition/applying-to-become-a-fellow-guidance.doc

and here is the overview page:

Haven't read the detail yet, but I think I might this evening!

It is of course an interesting development against the backdrop of HESA being about to collect data on the number of staff in institutions that have teaching qualifications or are recognised in this way. In that sense, the recognition has just become 'more valuable'....

And I’ve only seen in the last few minutes that the recognition fee has gone up to £200 for subscribing institutions, and £300 for non-subscribing ones ! All bets off.

Colleagues

I have been asked by my university to find out what other institution do about payment of the one-off fee (currently £50) charged by the HEA for recognition as a Fellow etc. Where does the money come from: a central budget, the School/Faculty, or does the individual pay him/herself? Do you have any experiences or views to share, in particular about the impact which the source of payment has had?

At Northumbria fees initially came from a central pot (funded by TQEF I think) which has ceased to exist. We therefore need to review the situation.

Best wishes

Nicola
