Dear All,

Thanks for the many replies and the interesting discussion. My apologies for the long emails on the short December days. J

One question for the list is whether there is anyone on the list who works with the large read only databases such as those suggested by Marc.  I realize that the CIA have been using large databases for years as have the NSA.  However, I have not seen (nor have I looked very diligently for) any research or papers on what it is like to work with such mega databases.

I would be interested in their experiences with data integrity, data quality, and the sustainability of the database for the purpose for which it is maintained.

For example, how effective are the databases in HMRC for example?

If anyone has any experience with them or anecdotal evidence to share about them, I would be grateful.

Thanks again for allowing me to discuss the topic.

Best,

Lawrence
