JOB TITLE: Young People’s Programme Assistant

REPORTING TO: YPP Manager/CREST Project Manager

BASED: Wellcome Wolfson Building, 165, Queen’s Gate, South Kensington, London, SW7 5HD

CONTRACT: Full-time permanent

 

Overall purpose of the job

The purpose of the job is to work as part of Young People’s Programme, particularly providing support for the British Science Association’s CREST and CREST Star Investigators schemes. The Young People’s Programme Assistant will be involved in supporting the operation and promotion of the awards and will also provide some administrative support for external and internal meetings involving the Young People’s team. There will also be opportunities for the post holder to become involved in specific project work on an adhoc basis and there will be considerable variety within the role. For the right candidate, there could be opportunities to progress swiftly to an Officer role within the team, taking on additional responsibilities relating to CREST.

 

Key responsibilities

· Deal efficiently with enquiries from teachers, CREST Local Coordinators and other delivery partners

· Support the CREST Local Coordinators and other partners involved in the delivery of the CREST schemes, including training them, tracking and monitoring their progress and organising events and meetings

· Contribute to the compilation and dissemination of project reports and impact reports, using our bespoke database to maintain monthly recording of performance vs targets

· Assist with the implementation of new database developments and bug fixes (with technical work carried out by external contractors)

· Oversee invoicing and managing stock levels

· Produce the CREST e-newsletter

· Design small items of print and email communications for our specific audiences

· Organise and prepare papers/minutes for stakeholder and other meetings

· Administer the sending of resources to schools

· Update and maintain the CREST/CREST Star pages of the British Science Association website

· Work closely and support cooperatively others in the team and elsewhere in the Organisation, actively participating in the work of the British Science Association’s Young People’s Programme

· Other tasks as required by the CREST Project Manager/Young People’s Programme Manager
