A PhD position in Physical Chemistry (Surface Spectroscopy) is available at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, Germany. Within the framework of the Collaborative Research Center 'Function by Switching’ (www.sfb677.uni-kiel.de), sum frequency generation spectroscopy will be used for

Spectroscopic Investigation of the Switching of Azobenzene-based Monolayers on Gold and SiO2. 

More information is available at www1.phc.uni-kiel.de/friedrichs/. The successful candidate should hold a Diploma or Master’s degree in Physical Chemistry, Physics, or a related field. Prior experiences in (non-linear) laser spectroscopy and/or surface chemistry are advantageous. The position will be awarded for three years; salary will be according to the German civil service level TVL-E13 (50%). A start date of February 2012 is anticipated, although it is negotiable.
