Good morning!

As part of our Trust’s attempt to restrain spending, we heard yesterday that

“The Trust is about to tender for a new printer/photocopier management service which will result in the removal of the majority of desktop printers throughout the Trust (where not required). In order to reduce costs more quickly, if there are desktop printers in your area that are not required, then please contact the IT Helpdesk ext 7777 or via the new online self service system) to arrange for immediate removal. The Executive Directors have already agreed that the majority of desktop printers in the management suite can be removed. “

I’m sure we aren’t the first Trust to do this, but I fear that the system will be specified on the basis of a fairly stable staff employed by this organisation, while our users are much more transient, and also employed or trained by a variety of NHS & other bodies.

I’ve asked to be involved in the planning of this, but has anyone else got experience which would help us to maintain a level of service (at minimal cost to us!) for our users?

Thank you

Dorothy
